Female Urological Conditions
Stress and Urge Incontinence
Stress and urgency urinary incontinence are the most common type of urinary disorders in women. Stress incontinence is the involuntary leakage of urine caused by pressure on the bladder, such as coughing, sneezing, or laughing. Urgency urinary incontinence is characterized by a sudden, intense, and compelling urge to urinate, which may lead to leakage before reaching the toilet. Many people have a combination of both, known as mixed urinary incontinence. Both can be significantly improved through a combination of pelvic floor muscle training, medicine, or surgery.
