Hematuria and infections

Blood-stained urine is often one of the warning signs of urinary tract infection, but it may also be an early symptom of urological cancer, which requires further examination. Patients will observe abnormal urine colour and simultaneously suffer from typical symptoms of infection such as frequent urination and burning pain during urination. If the infection worsens and spreads to the kidneys, it may trigger pyelonephritis, leading to severe flank pain. At this stage, medical assistance must be sought.
