Urological Surgeries
Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP)
Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is a minimally invasive surgery performed through the urethra to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia. The process involves using an endoscope to remove enlarged prostatic tissue obstructing the urethra to improve symptoms such as difficulty urinating. This surgery requires no external skin incision, uses an electrocautery knife to scrape away tissue, and then flushes out tissue fragments through irrigation fluid.
